Last nite I was out cruising my car is burning oil really bad. It always burnt oil before but never this much, it was like a damn chimney. So I did a compression test. It seems to me that the valves are leaking. Can somebody help me out with the results.

Cyl. 1 Cyl. 2 Cyl.3 Cyl. 4

w/o oil 160 140 160 170

w/ oil 175 150 170 180

By the way this was with the motor cold.

Well there is a large difference between 1 and 2 which leads me to believe that something is up there. What are your symptoms? Any smoking, fluid mixing, loss of power?

The compression test should be performed when the engine is warm.
But without more information it is hard do accurately diagnose the problem.

There is a massive amount of oil being burned. I didnt see any oil on the plugs when I pulled them out. Im worried about cyl 2. The results of the test lead my to believe that the valves may be the cause. I also want to check my turbo seals. If the seal is leaking there should be oil on the turbine wheel.

Well oil on the lip of the turbo could be cause by blow-by oil from the valve cover. I would check the turbo for shaft play. Also give the car a really good inspection for oil leaks.
So is your car smoking? if so, when and in what situations?

Your compression is an issue however. If you could find a shop to do a leakdown test then that will tell you exactly where you are losing compression.

A couple more things that I forgot to add. The night it started smoking really bad I had 110 leaded and I was running low and it was late and I couldnt get 110 so I had to put 93 in my car. One other thing I thought was weird my vacuum gauge flutters very fast within 1-3 in/hg.

Does the vacuum gauge fluctuate only at idle? Does it increase with engine speed? Does it fluctuate the same at all RPM's?

Does the engine smoke on deceleration only, acceleration only, between shifts, all the time?

I might be wrong but usually if you do a compression test (when the car is warm) and you get the first results, then putting oil in the pressure goes up, that's an indication of bad rings...Correct me if i'm wrong...
