By looking at my gallery, You can tell i love doing custom work to tail lights. Well i just completed my biggest one yet. I love how the honda preludes and honda civic si's tail lights are OEM and i want mine like that. Inspired by AZDave's LED tail lights i decided to do a full LED conversion. After an estimated 50-60 hours of labor, here they are: Let me know what you guys think.

The inside of these are fiberglassed and then i sodered in 108 LEDs, which are curcuit boards of course. I had to build a wall inside so it isnt a huge blur when turn signals are engaged. For more pictures of them hit up my gallery AND : http://mysite.verizon.net/happyday23 (click on 2006 Pics)

very unique. It sure does look like you took a lot of time on these. Great job.

Only thing I like about them is at night, how they have the yellow underneath for blinkers.

I'm not that big of a fan of how they look in daytime though. Not saying they're ugly either, good job

That is quite nice. I think you should rework the center section to match the rest of the tail lights.

yup, center section needs some attention, maybe not the whole red/white across the back, but it needs something else.

Nice work! That takes talent. Can't say I really like the two tone look except at night, but very unique.

you should do the center section red and white like the rest and move the reverse lights to the bottom of the center.

those tails came out hot. Would you consider making them to sell.....

Thanks for all the comments guys. I really didn't think everyone would like them. I just always loved the prelude tails (1993 body style) and i loved azdave's led conversion so i created these basically for my own enjoyment. I don't think i would ever made another set just because of the uniqueness of them. The only thing close to these are azdaves and he lives in arizona so i don't think our tails will ever meet up. If anyone wants to venture off and try to make them yourself, grab a set of fully clear tail lights from ebay and these are the exact LEDs i used:

Wow, that looks really nice! Damn it looks like you spent alot of time on it. Good job!

Congrats! Looks very nice. A guy here in Phoenix is planning on using a set of those clear tails and doing a full RGB LED conversion but even I would not want to attempt that. If you have any construction pics we would all like to see them I'm sure.

Is the upper red portion of the lens a spray tint? I have a set of clear tails I may experiment with sometime in the future.

BTW, I have been using those same LED arrays from that ebay supplier for other projects too. Pretty good solution for simplifying DIY projects. He also sells some wide-angle 30-count LED strips that I'm testing inside marker lights.

Anyway, nice ride and great job.

I actually really like it. I would get the center section of the tail lights painted glossy black to match the rest of the car, then it would be tits.

The center section is real carbon fiber from carbonwerks before he went out of business.
For the red tint part... here is exactly what i used:

I'm also experimenting with LEDs around the car like the bumper lights, and my next led project is to fiberglass the inside of my headlights and create an amber led turn signal that runs across the bottom of the headlight (i think the scion tc's have them?) and then remove the current turn signal and use a small projector that illuminates the side of the road when im turning in that direction (caddys have this). im sick of putting down my window just to see where im turning at night.

i will try to find some construction pics of the tails today.
