common problems with 97 gst's?

Not taking care of one is a problem, cause you get to fix it.

:thumb:, I'll definitely agree with that. :D. But the year model's not gonna make much of a difference there. Guys, there are no certain problems that you are gonna have more of with a 97 than with any other 2Gb. I have heard that as well that 97's had the highest percentage of CW. If the car has more than 60k miles on it and there's no sign so far, then it's more than likely not gonna walk. If you have a specific thing you are wondering about on a 97 post and I'll try my best to help you out.:thumb:
 
Please do not beat the dead crankwalk horse cadaver. It's ten years later. If it was going to walk, it already has.
Otherwise, the 97 model year is virtually the same as all other 2G cars, other than the styling nuances.
 
The BOV should be replaced before you do anything to the car, they tend to leak so even if you do nothing to the car other than drive it this is a great upgrade that will result in a better running longer lasting car, if you have 6x9s in the back when you go to change them the mounting depth is very shallow keep this in mind before blowing $150 on speakers. The back seat is hard to get in/out of. The convertible version can be a little leaky at the A-pillars and the convertible version will require a very small box to fit a subwoofer in the back. Other than that some good maintenance and a little TLC should keep the car reliable, the only problem I've ever had was blowing out my front end clutches and that was from sheer stupidity (the tires WILL spin on the highway if you throw it into drive at 7200 RPM, this WILL NOT save your transmission it WILL impress your friends, don't drive while young and dumb).
