Common Problems

I just picked up a 1996 Mitsubishi eclipse gst. I pulled the motor yesterday. Its going to the machine shop to be built. What I was curious about was the common problems these motors have? I have heard of crank walk my car had that but it's being fixed as we speak. What other things (besides belts, fluids and normal wear and tear stuff)need to be fixed? Any info would be great. I get the motor back soon and need to know what I need to fix before it goes back into the car. Thanks everyone.
Prompt attention to this would be greatly appreciated because the motor comes back from the machine shop this saturday.

Please tell me you are replacing the crankshaft for the built motor. If not, then it WILL walk again.

I have a 96 GST as well. It has rust from being on salted, winter roads. My ignition switch is a bit tempermental sometimes. I think that's really it. If anything, feel free to get in touch with me if you have any specific questions.

the crank isnt what causes crankwalk its a poor design in the 2g thrust bearings. unless the crank shows any signs of wear it shouldn't need replacing.

Yeah the crank is fine im getting it knife edged I did replace the bearings with better ones. I left the decision for what bearings to use to my engine builder. Oh and if you guys need a rebuilt turbo I have one for sale. Got a new one for the new manifold.
