The story goes, I bought a non-running project car. It's a Colt with the '90 GST 5-speed Turbo Swap .
I could not get the car to start. I had no spark, so I changed out the MPI relay and got spark. The car would not start, still. So I switched to another '90 5-speed ECU. No start. '90 ECU #3. No start. I grounded the diagnostic port for all of the computers and they beeped 9 times or "Normal State". Finally, I used a '91 AWD Auto computer and it started after awhile and ran, poorly, but it ran. I did the 6 and 14 wire switch and it starts and runs decent.
The question is....WHY? My car has the 5-speed cams, 14B, 450 injectors, etc.
Do you think that all 3 of the '90 computers are bad? They all looked good. No burnt spots, smell or anything.
Has anyone heard of anything goofy like this before? Tips, Ideas, and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'd really like to get this to work with my '90 E-prom computer so I can throw my chip in.
