where can i drop my intake filter into to make it cold air, i dont see any place with enough room in my engine bay, but i have the stock box and stuff still in will there be room when i take them out?

In your N/T the place most people put their cold air intakes is right down by the ground just behind the driver side of the bumper. You will see better once you take your stock parts out. I would suggest the AEM V2 CAI, people have been having lots of success with it.

^^^ is right. Once you move the stock air box you will be amazed at how much room you have. I have the V2 intake and I love it, that thing is a monster. You will be surprised at how much just letting your car breath better will make an improvement. A lot of people are worried about hydrolock but it's not an issue really, no you can not use the bypass valve on the V2 but all you need if you are that worried is a water proof prefilter from outerwears. just don't submerge the filter in water and you will be ok. Best of luck.

I have a "custom fabricated" CAI and i put mine right behind the hole in the left side of the bumper. This is on a 96 btw. It works great. I could tell a difference both in power and temperature of the intake pipe. I am just really careful where I drive it, not to go through any deep puddles becaue my car is also lowered.

I actually heard about cold air, but yeah, was paranoid about those puddles?!?
Is there a way to do it so that I don't have to worry? I have a 97 talon TSI AWD

So if you take out the box there's lots of room? Do you still have to worry about puddles though? I mean, we don't get that much rain... though it has flooded here before... and we get a HUGE amount of snow in the winter....

Right now my axle'ish is getting borken. Something about a bolt seized in the motor. I'm hearing heft repair bills :( Not too happy with that.

it is actually harder to hydrolock a car then people think... you pretty much need to submerg the whole filter underwater for that... driving through random puddles is ok.

i used to have an integra with a cold air intake and my filter sat about 3.5 inches off the ground... never had a problem.

just don't go driving around when it's flooding out and you should be fine.

.
CAI's are few and far between on turbo dsm's, and for many reasons. The engine bay is much more "full" and has less room for a CAI. The intake has a MAS which allows for limited placement of an intake. There is an intercooler where the CAI would go if we had one. The don't help as much as with the n/a cars. Don't get me wrong though, a CAI on a turbo will deffinately help, but when compared to other mods you can do for performance v. availability v. price it's not really a mod that many turbo cars do.
