calgary,
i wanna get a cold air intake installed in my 93 talon, but the problem is i dont know what to do with the airflow sensor, because everytime u unplug it and start the car it doesnt run proper im shure everyone know that, but what my question is... How can i disconnect it so my car runs the same without it and i can put my cold air on ther, or is it able to be disconnected... not so shure? let me:talon: know thnx...

you need to keep the air flow sensor plugged in. www.dejonpowerhouse.com has intakes for your car that keep the stock MAF. There are things like the GM MAF/MAF Translator, that allow you to use a GM MAF in a blow through set up and remove your stock MAF. There is also MAFT Pro and other aftermarket engine management systems that can run speed destiny. Which is using a MAP sensor instead of a MAF sensor. I don't think your anywhere near ready for either of the last two options. My sugestion is to search on these site for info, there is so much info you can learn about your dsm as well as mods you can do and can't do. Also check out the tech guide section. Good luck.

The airflow sensor must remain plugged in. But what you can do is take the maf off the stock rubber hose and insert that into your cold air intake, also get rid of the aircan and get an open element k&n filter. Just extend the wiring harness. and put the maf wherever you want it. I did this on my 90 laser n/t sorry no pics though.

ok... im quessing the maf is what the aircan clamps on to but ive taken a look at it and i have no idea how you would attach a filter to it???

the air filters on 1gs just have 3 clamps that hold the filter onto the stock maf you just take the stock air can off and youll see it..

There are a few 10mm bolts on some brackets that hold the aircan "bucket" to the chassis, unbolt the bolts and undo the three clamps holding the lid on. Get rid of the bucket or cut it and use it as a heatsheild. There it is. The K&N filter goes over the top of the maf sensor and you use the clamps to hold it to the lid. If you are not familiar with "honeycombs" you are looking at the upper and lower ones right now.
