ok i bought a bomz cold air intake...and i am new to the car world...so i thought someone on this forum might have the answer for me. How do i install the kit?

like where do i put the 2 rubber pieces and clamps and the 2 metal pipes the long one and a short one where do those go???? also there's a small hose where do i put that on?

can someone help me out?

thnx.

I'm not going to flame you, but first things first. Update your vehicle profile so we know what kind of car you have. Maybe include a picture of your intake for us to tell you how it goes on. Thanks, and welcome to the world of DSMs.

Is your old intake still on your car? I'm pretty sure (I don't have an N/A) that the short pipe replaces your throttle body elbow, and the long one should only fit one way. You use one of the couplers between the pipes and the other between the long pipe and the filter. As for the little nipple and hose, not sure.

Assuming it's for a 2GNT...

The shorter piece of pipe with the elbow in it will attach to the TB. You will run the little hose from the VC to the nipple on that short pipe. You should already have a hose like this on the stock intake.

The longer pipe will then attach to the short pipe with a coupler of some kind. Route it down and under the ECU/Fuse Box area. If it has mounting tabs on it, see if you can't find someplace near where they end up to screw/bolt it to or use some zip ties to hang it so it won't drop out and end up under your tire.

These things are not rocket science, man. I will tell you that you'll probably want to yank the battery for a little extra room to wiggle it (just a little bit) during installation. Common fitment issues are a mounting tab damaging the harness to the cam position sensor and the battery tie down rubbing a hole in the short pipe. Just a head's up.

Have fun.

thanx guys.....i figured it out..

but one more prob the longer pipe doesn't fit, i tried to twist it in al positions. Where exactly is the filter supposed to be located when it is done correctly? for some reason i can't get it into any position wher ethe filter would even slide in, cuz there r oter objects in the way...

again thnx

the longer pipe doesn't fit,
These girls can be a little tight at times. When you consider that "OBX" is an abbreviation for a Japanese phrase that means "fabrication required," it's to be expected. You're going to have to do some tweaking. I'm betting you're getting interference with the splash shield in the fender or something like that. If it's something non-critical, just hack it to fit. Otherwise, put the filter on the short pipe until you can get the long pipe installed cleanly imo.

is it just me or is there a nipple on the longer pipe too?

I had a kit similar to this, paid 22$ shipped, put it on and the filter was so low that it hit the ground when installed, so I just used the stock piping and the filter over the end instead of the stock airbox. The stock one came off with 3 bolts and a little nudge.

I have a nipple on both the shorter pipe and the longer pipe. I have a 95 ESi and in the 95's (I don't know if it is the same for the 96-99's) there is an EGR valve that was running from my downpipe to my stock airbox, so the hose from the valve goes onto the nipple on the long tube.

After i got new headers however, the EGR piping is no longer there so now there is only a valve that is hooked up to my intake and when it opens, it just lets clean air instead of poopy air in.

Hope that helps a little.

thnx again..

so the filter is supposed to be really low on the ground i guesss...yea i think i'll cut off a little piece of the little splash protector thingy.

that 2nd nipple is because 95 model NT's had a "pulsed secondary air injection system", which actually has a recall on it from mitsu. Might want to have that recall work done (you'll want the stock air intake in place for this) and if you haven't done the ball joint recall you could kill two birds with one stone.
