Hello all,

I am considering lowering my 2G RS and I was wondering what coilovers I should get for her from different price points.
Budget, Medium, and High End.

Additionally, would lowering springs work as well if budget is tight?
If so, any recommendations?

Thank you for your help as always!

you would be better off if a tight budget of just doing springs. they wont really stiffen the car but adding new shocks (kyb) or new good branded would be cheap enough to help with a new feel firmer ride.

cheap coilovers tend not to last very long and/or corrode alot faster so stay away from coilovers about the 800 mark as thats just cheap

I've used various suspension setups on the 2G platform. The most affordable was the Megan Racing lowering springs with new standard struts. It lowered the car at the advertised amount (I'm forgetting 2 inches or 3 inches) but it was almost exactly. It did seem to stiffen the ride, not unbearably but noticeably. Probably some credit to the new struts. Prices have likely changed but I only paid under $200 for the springs on Ebay (new) and another $100 for the set of struts from RockAuto (x4). Fresh suspension plus lowering for 300 bucks is quite nice. I couldn't complain about that.

Alternatively I've used Eibach Ground Control coilovers with custom order Gabriel flat pedestal struts. That ride was very stiff, and to purchase all parts new would have been around $1,500 at the time. Great for track days but terrible around the city where streets are rough. Hitting a small pot hole would completely bottom out the suspension due to lack of travel with the short springs. I hated that part.
