coil pack placement

Hello ladies and gents. I have been using coil on plugs for a while now. I have could to realize that they are not for me. I have gotten a cleaner and stronger spark with the stock coils.

My problem is that I am using a sheet metal intake manifold. If you guys have any suggestions, that would be great. I know that JM Fab has a bracket. I am not looking to place the coil pack under the manifold.

Are you asking where else you can relocate the coil pack? You can petty much put it anywhere the wires will reach it at. You could do it how this guy did...

Yes. I saw a photo of one bolted in between the manifold and the timing belt. I just cant find the photo anymore

A lot of 1G guy will do this, is that what you're thinking of?

Keep it in a cooler part of the engine bay if you can. Heat eventually breaks the dielectric in the packs down, shorting the turns and lowering the secondary voltage. With our modded DSMs, especially with exposed tubular headers, it's pretty safe to assume underhood temps are generally higher than they were from the factory

I agree. I think 1g guys do it more. I am trying to keep the coil pack away from the strut tower. If I can keep it near the manifold, but tucked away that would be ideal.

I think most of us suffer from high under hood temps. I have in the past blown the oem coil pack up due msd high output and high temps. But, I willing to tak that chance. The coil on plugs are completely horrible.

You could probably make a bracket that would hold it to the side of the intake manifold but not underneath.

I was thinking the samething. Have you guys seen anyone with theirs done like that? With the coil pack bolted directly between the number one runner and timing belt?

I can't remember if I've seen one like that before, but I'm sure it would be possible to do, you could look through the engine bay photo gallery and see if you can find something like that.
