I've searched for it and have found a ton of threads on COP's but only one on Ford coils being used, and It wasn't very helpful. I have a set of COP from my mustang that I have sitting around and was wondering if any one has used 4.6's before? I don't want to do this for any expected Hp gains just to clean up the engine bay. Can anyone help?

Mike

I've never heard of anyone using the Ford coils. Everybody I've seen who uses a COP setup uses the coils from the 2.7L Dodge Intrepids. There was one attempt to use the coils from a NSX (the guy who did it worked at an Acura dealership so he could get them with no problems), but he had problems breaking up at high rpm's.

Give it a shot, if it works, that's another set of coils that I can look for when I prowl the pick-n-pulls.

Does anyone know if the wiring would be about the same as the Intrepid coils? Daisy chained? I imagine it would be. Just curious. Thanks

Mike

OK so this threads about as dead as they get but Now I'm attempting it. Last time when I was getting ready to try it I blew a head gasket that night while cruising... Has anyone tried this yet???? And are their any people that know for a fact that it will not work? thanks

Mike

might clear. if i get bored tonight ill grab one from my GT and stick it in and see what it looks like.

I tried it... It does fit but I think the values are different. I've already made the wiring harness and wired the coils but I have to check to make sure they're not going to ruin the Ign. module. I guess it's going to be a 50/50 shot... I'll let everyone know by the weekend.

LOL i got as far as popping the hood on my GT and i became really un-motivated really fast (probably the depressed feeling i get when i think of my cobra and how much my GT is missing a large blower and 4v heads to make it better)

This eclipse was supposed to be a winter beater but I like it so much I just can't stop playing with it. My mustangs my first love but once you start playing with a DSM, you can't stop.

Here's my mustang. Full PI motor swap, and a bunch more goodies! I'd post pic of the eclipse but it's all stock and nothing out of the ordinary there...

yeah i was gonna mod mine, but its too ####ing expensive and still not all that great. the 2v 4.6 can only handle around 400-450 and 12psi of boost safely, after having a dsm, that aint gonna hold me for long, so after 4k on a sc kit here comes another 5k on a built motor from VT, and not to mention the need for a 6spd afterwards, so theres 2500$ more. #### that. i got another dsm.

Nope doesn't work.... Cut's out or looses spark or something at 5500rpm. It doesn't look that good under the hood.
