Ive searched and tried all the usual tips and still having problems. Decided to try one of thoses xtd stage 3's, anyway had the flywheel surfaced and stepped, new tob, bookoo shims under the pivot ball(4 washers),extended slave rod, and the master rod is all the way out. With all this it doesnt quite disengage all the way, grabs about a 1/4 in off the floor. 2nd through 5th seem alright when shifting but 1st and reverse grind every time. Im not sure what else to do. Anyone got any tips?

Well you might be over extending the rod and not allowing the master cyl to bleed.. You need to get rid of all of those shims.. You only need 1.. It makes too much of an angle.. Get rid of the extended rod.. Not needed AT ALL... MAke sure the slave is moving its correct length which is on this WELCOME TO TRE   WE SPECIALIZE IN MANUAL TRANSMISSION REPAIR.. You need to do stuff right instead of trying to make it "just work"

Are you sure the flywheel is stepped right. I had one done by a shop once and the stepped it to .604 when I told them .610, I took it to another shop 35 mins. away from where I live and had it done at the height I wanted and they did it right and it now works great.

Yes its stepped right i was starting to think maybe the clutch fork is super bent. Is there a way to check if its striaght?

Just thought id post an update to maybe help someone out that had the same prob as me. Anyway figured it was either clutch fork or assembly under the dash. Pulled the assembly out and sure enough it was worn super bad. Welded it put it back in and i got so much more travel with it good now.

when i do a clutch job,i always replace a new fork, new pivot ball.use OEM throw out bearing.Never used a shim under the pivot ball, and never had an extended rod for a master cylinder.Bleed the clutch really good, and replace the ruber hose, that goes to the slave cylinder to the ss one. Enjoy your clutch.... :p

Glad you got your issue sorted out. Excessive clutch pedal wear is common in 1gs.
Just be sure to adjust the master down to the point where you can push the slave rod in by hand, to ensure the the master is bleeding properly
