Hey guys, I think my clutch is slipping, but it's only slipping in gears 1 and 2. From what I've been told a slipping clutch is more likely to do it in higher gears. What happens though when I get above 3-4k rpm in 1st and 2nd the RPMs just fly up to redline as if in neutral and the car doesn't seem to move any faster like it should. The car doesn't shake or anything either. I can't even spin the tires unless I launch the car, and the car is FWD. But in 3rd-5th my MPH definately rises faster than the RPMs so it is definately not slipping in the higher gears. I have a Fidanza 2.1 with 25,000 miles on it. I also had the flywheel reground and I think that's where my problem is. Is it possible something else could be bad in the driveline? I did break an axle the other night when I launched it. I shifted into 2nd gear, the turbo spooled up then it snapped at the splines. I am running anti-lag and that's probably what killed the driveshaft. Has anyone else experienced their clutch slipping at lower gears?

Have you tried to adjust the clutch. A lot of people forget, even shops. The step height has to be on the money when you turn the flywheel.

If it doesn't happen at the specified RPM when it's in the higher gears, then why would you think it's not wheelspin?

When I had FWD, passengers always asked me if that was my clutch slipping. I always had to tell them "No that's wheelspin"; some people just can't tell the difference unless there's a loud screeching noise.

I get crazy wheel spin on one of my other cars with Falken Azenis and there is no audible sound unless it is a very hot day and the tires are warm.
