so i just bought this car a week ago and the guy said he put a new xtd stage 3 clutch in..

what its doing,,,,,,, well when i first jump in the car in the mourning or after a very long cooldown period the clutch pedal seams really stiff but runs and shifts just fine however, after the car is warmed up and i try and give it too much gas ( like say going from 2500 rps to 3000 without boosting) the clutch will start slipping and i will go nowhere but if i let off the gas and take it nice and slow like try and gain maybe 100rps at a time the car will pickup speed but it takes a very long time.

however when i get to where im going and let it cool down for a few hours and then take off to head back home it will run fine until it warms up..

any ideas on what it is?

is it the xtd clutch?
system needs to be bleeded?
sensor somewhere?

if it is the clutch that needs replaced should i just go with an oem clutch?(i will not be hitting it hard i just drive normal)

how expensive is it to have a shop install a new clutch??

It is possible when he installed the clutch he didn't resurface the flywheel. They tend to glaze over and become slippery. Either that, or the clutch is already gone. How far is the pedal play/friction point? May need to be bled if it's to the floor.

so little update

i noticed the pedal was very stiff and engaging from the moment my foot was on the pedal so i adjusted it out some and it seems to be better but still slipping. its also grinding a little when going into gear

ill adjust the pedal out some more tommarow and see how that does

If it's grinding, you could try and flush the tanny fluid and replace it. Also I've heard of grinding going away with under the hood shifter bushings and such but don't quote me. Depending on the miles your syncros could be going out.

theres only about 158k on the car but i know the previous 2 owners were very ruff on the car.

how would i determine for a fact if it were the syncros that were going out?

and what type of tranny fluid does it take for a manual transmission? also where would that be located?

so after adjusting the pedal last night i got into today and the clutch pedal didnt feel at all stiff but once again after a while of driving it (11 miles or so) i stopped at a stop light in town then i had an idle surge went from like 1100 to 1500 then back down however when i pulled away from the light the clutch was slipped

any ideas guys???????????

when i adjusted the pedal i only did the rod i did NOT do the cruise control(should i adjust that also?)

Your Clutch slipping, and your idle are 2 different problems. Your idle may be from a boost leak or something of that nature. It could also be old electrical lines being over powered when your fans kick on. It doesn't sound like the idles that bad, but check your sensors on your throttle body anyways. As for the clutch fluid check your hanes/chilton manual, or use the search button. Did you ask about that flywheel yet?

well out of frustration i took it to the shop and what was actually going on was the guy that had it before me replaced the master cylinder however he had either a bad one or adjusted it out to far and ruined it,,,

bottom line xtd clutch is fine just had to replace the master cylinder

Just for future reference, if youre having hydraulic issues, take a look at the fluid if any adjustments youre making arent doing anything to help you. If its dirty, flush it out and operate the clutch a little bit. If it gets dirty, odds are the seals are gone in your master or slave. OEM is about the only thing that works on our cars. I know its a bit more expensive but spend the extra money and do it correctly the first time.

always always keep some upper play , iam not talking about the rod here, give the pedal some room on the upper play and your clutch will slip no more. give it a try before changing the master cylinder and waste time and money.

good luck
