just got done installing a good trans. about five feet after taking off, i heard a grinding noise and then the car wouldnt move at all, while grinding. so i stop, put it back into 1st to take off but it just grinds and then comes the smell of clutch material.

so i take trans back out and look to make sure the clutch was facing the right way, which it is, but where the springs are on the clutch plate one side is ground down as if they are hitting the flywheel bolts. any advice on what else to look for?

its impossible for the clutch pack to hit the flywheel bolts unless, a) they are backing out/shimmed or b) its not a dsm disk, over sized spring packs and such. your sure its a clutch interface issue?

I just checked, your like 5 hours away from me, I was gonna offer to take a look at it, but thats a bit of a drive, haha

yes, installed properly. after just getting the trans out for the second time i am starting to beleive that the clutch is just slipping. the marks that are there may be from something else entirely.
GOOD FLYWHEEL, GOOD P.P, AND GOOD CLUTCH.......whats making it slip. there is no oil mess on the clutch. i cleaned the flywheel and the p.p . ???????????????? cmon all you dsmers LOL

if you touch the friction material on either the pressure plate, or flywheel with bare hands it "can" cause that, the grinding noise you mentioned in the first post shouldnt be related though...

as i wrote in my post............. i did not install backwards, and i pulled the trans again to make sure
