Hey Yall,

I know everybody got problems with there dsm car and shit but have any ever experince what I'm experiencing now. The thing is, I just bought my car for about less then 2 years ago. Since then I havn't experince any prolems at all. However during this cold winter season, my clutch seems to be acting kinda weird and shit. First off, when I press down on the clutch, the pedal would vibrate that you can literally feel it, and when you let off the clutch it seems to go away for the moment. Second when it starts the vibrate the rpm gauge drops a little bit like 900rpm to 500rpm then back to 800rpm. And when I let off the pedal it return to normal. Third is that when I drive my car, and slow down to a red like and put the gear stick back in neutral, the rpm would drop to the point where it was choking my car, and the vibration will always come on whenever I press the clutch pedal in.

Now I'm wondering maybe its time to replace the stock clutch or whether its my tranny that needs fixing. Help me out, I'm having a financial crisis here too and need the cheapest way out.

thanks....

u might have a short right under the dash if the rpms or dropping the clutch pedal may be touching some wires or sumfin my buddys 240 did the same thing

Sounds like the throw-out bearing to me, but it could also be something with the pressure plate or disc I suppose.

Well is there anyway to find out, i'm since i bought it this long i have no idea if the clutch been replace or not and where would the short throw be located at and if thats the problem would it be pricey

what do you mean, I didn't understand what you just said....

What he is saying is that the clutch pedal could be shorting wires out if there are bare wires under the dash. AFAIK there shouldnt be any ecu wires near the clutch pedal.

It really sounds like a pressure plate issue or slave/master cylinder issue.

AS far as your car nearly dying at redlights, it might be running to rich or you need to recirculate your bov.

your "throw out" bearing is located inside the bell housing on the transaxle input shaft, its what your clutch fork pushes in order to engage/disengage your clutch. is there any noise associated with this vibration, with the clutch engaged, disengaged? what speeds and rpm does this occur? we can try to help you out, but its kinda hard to diagnose some things over the net.

I have some of the worst luck ever.....

Finally understand where its coming from but havn't narrow it down to the culprit yet.

Situation looks gloomy for my car....

Situation goes like this......

1. The clutch is finally sqeeking when I try to depress (meaning press down) the clutch, its sqeechs and vibrates and causes the rpm to drop slightly while car is in nuetral. Finally on my way home today from work, slowing down to a red light, put the car in neutral and then just depress the clutch pedal just before putting it in gear one, it kill the car. It felt like loss of pressure or something.

2. So i decided to check out whats causing it by turning to the haynes automotive repair book on the clutch part.
Haynes said to determine if the clutch is going out do this and that. First to check resivoir if low, add liquid, if leak, bleed and replace lines. Second, check to see if gear sensor lock or gear pressure lock engange and disengage, by depressing and unpressing the clutch pedal, if no noise then its ok, if noise the the clutch sensor is bad. Third, check if gear is smooth, so tested it in gear one and reverse with parking brakes on, first gear was kinda smooth, more like soft soft going in, and reverse was ok, little bit of crunch but not too loud to notice.

3. After doing that for awhile, while having the clutch depress and unpress, notice a smoke venting from near the crank tranfers case down by the block near the front passenger side.

4. Let go of clutch, turn car off, waited for somke to clear, then attempted to turn car back on, but the clutch felt so hard when depressing it down, try to pop it in first gear and would buldge, try it in all gears and same result.

5. I call my mitsu mechanic guy and explain all this and he said two things could be the root of the cause.
1. My clutch could be going out and needed replace or my flywheel is sticking to my disc or pressure plate.
2. My tranny could be going out and could cost alot more to fix.

6. I.E. First my tranny doesn't slip nor grind to harshly.
Second have no record of the clutch ever been work on.
Third what a bad day I have, slip on ice and fell, injured my left arm, car nearly quite on me while coming home, now at home car decided to die, great.

Help.....help.....help......what to do next.......any suggestion now could really hellp save alot of money.....thanks.....
