Well i'm finally upgrading the clutch/flywheel in the next month or so, but before hand I want to make sure everything else is in spec and ready to go.

The first problem is when my car is in gear there is still a good amount of left/right shifter play. I've tried adjusting the cables but to no avail. Should I just pick up another set of cables or is it something else?

Second problem (see pic below) I can pull up on the clutch pedal when I don't have my foot on it. I crawled undere and noticed it's stopping right when it hits the second pin and i'm pretty sure it never fully pressed the pin down like it should. Can i just adjust the entire pin mechanism so it hits it properly?

The shifter assembly generally gets worn out over time. You can shim the assembly with some nylon washers and that should get rid of the side to side movement. Here are the vfaqs on that:

The clutch pedal assembly also gets worn over time. Here are a couple of articles that describe welding the clutch pedal assembly to fix this. It's quite a bit of work to get the assembly out, but better than having potential clutch disengagment issues and ruining perfectly good synchros.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
