Is the cable bracket on right? And is there supposed to be a piece on the end of shifter arm

If you're referring to the weight on the shifter bracket, yes it is. Can u do away with it? Yes. Many have and it's not necessary. I don't have a link to the process but you don't "need" it

It looks like you are missing the select lever shoe, part number MD712919. Otherwise, everything looks kosher.

OK thanks I'll order that now. The reason I ask about the cable bracket is my shifter is not sitting in the normal neutral position. Neutral is forward like its in 1st 3rd or 5th

You only need to order the select lever shoe if it's missing or worn down out of spec. If missing you definitely will have a problem. It is used when shifter is moved right/left to select the gear pair (1-2, 3-4, or 5-R). But if missing all kinds of bad things will happen.

Scratch that, I had the short shifter installed backwards. Any advice where to buy the shoe from?
