I recently installed a new CenterForce DF clutch in my car (170 miles ago). The installation went fine and I had to bleed it and adjust the pedal before the clutch would disengage (the pedal easily went to the floor). After this, it ran fine.

It seems that as I use the clutch, it begins to engage much higher on the pedal until it starts slipping when a little power is added. I readjust and keep going. This usually happens about every 75 miles or so. I tightened the readjustment screw down tight, so I know it is not loosening due to that. Is this normal for the break-in period of a CF and has anyone else experienced this on a new clutch? I don't notice any smells that may indicate it's wearing away and it shifts very smooth with no noises. I appreciate any help you can offer. It really a minor annoyance and only needs about a half turn for it to disengage just off the floor once again.

i remember having to adjust my pedal a few times after i had the cf clutch installed. should be ok as long as it settles down eventually. if not, then you've got another problem.
 
She's working great now. Had to adjust about three times from total slippage to disengaging right away. I guess that's a good indicator when the CF is broken in. No more adjusting = good 2 go. Took about 300-350 miles.
 
If you stick your head under the dash and follow the clutch pedal up, you'll see a long threaded rod with brass fittings pass into the firewall. That leads to the master cylinder. You'll see a nut on the rod near the brass fixture it's screwed into, I believe it's a 10mm. Shouldn't be on too tight either. Just loosen that up a good distance. Then you should be able to turn the rod by hand. It may be pretty tight at first, requiring a vice grips or pliers. Eventually it will turn easy enough. Just remember that a little adjustment here makes a big difference in the clutch pedal.

If I can remember correctly, you have to tighten the rod into the brass fixture to make the clutch release higher and loosen it to make it release closer to the floor.

The VFAQ has a good picture of the assembly you'll see. It's a 1G, so just look at the second picture, it's very similar to a 2G.
