I just bought an RPS clutch kit, Xact streetlite flywheel, new fork, pivot and TOB. aligned clutch when I was torquing pressure plate to flywheel at 15 lbs/ft. bolted up tranny and was told to check the position of the fork at that point and found that the fork wasn't in the middle where it should be but it was off to the drivers side, I decided to install the slave cylinder to make sure that the clutch disengaged before I went any further and found that its not disengaging. everything disengaged properly before my clutch plate had to be replaced and decided to get some of you to give me your thoughts. :talon:

Hmm, It's ok for the entire fork end to be on the drivers side of center. As long as you have a finger width or so between the fork and edge of the hole it should be ok. I just installed a RPS, I added a washer behind the pivot because of the flywheel being freshly turned, but the fork end was too far off center. I had to pull the tranny back out and remove that shim. It works fine, this was a 1G tranny though.

Did you bleed the slave? Get someone to push the clutch or use a 2x4 proped against the seat to see if the fork end is moving far enough. Sometimes the slave rod will pop out when it doesn't have any pressure holding it in and it might come out far enough to leak air in.

What does it feel like? Spongy, or does it feel like your contacting something?

I fixed it sorta...found out that the slave was internally leaking so I wasn't getting enough pressure to depress it enough but it still needed a bit more so I put one shim in and it works great now

only one problem now, when the engine is running weither it is in gear or in nutral if I let go of the clutch pedal I can hear a vibrating sound coming from the front of the car and I can feel the clutch pedal virate.

Whats up with that???

Sorry to butt in, but I'm going crazy over my clutch not disengaging.
I put a couple washers behind the ball and it still does not fully disengage.
If the fork is a finger's width from the driver's side of the opening, how far should it travel when pressing the clutch pedal in?
Also, has anyone ever heard of shimming the flywheel?

NEVER SHIM THE FLYWHEEL!!! DANGER WILL ROBINSON DANGER!!!

pul off the boot on the slave clutch cylinder and see if there is oil in there if so replace the cylinder and if the problem persists then adjust the rod on the master cylinder. that should fix your problem. if still presisting replace the flexable line attached to the slave cylinder cause those over time tend to flex losing power to the clutch

Im having similar problems with my clutch. Transmission was rebult about 15,000 miles ago, and it grinds. Today, while driving home, I discovered that if I don't push the clutch all the way down, it shifts fine. Is it possible to over clutch? Also, how hard is it to replace the fork? Is it really necessary to remove the whole transaxle?

Why wouldn't you shim the flywheel? There's no other way to get the fork out. It's too large to get through the hole. Check out dsmparts.com if you want to know what it looks like.
