So I have been battling a clutch slipping issue for some time. I had a badly adjusted clutch for a couple months where the engagement point was way too high up. The clutch set up, along with the clutch fork and pivot ball were all replaced at the same time, most likely 10-15k miles ago. The car during this time has probably seen a total of 15-20 WOT pulls since it was constantly going through things to get it running well. Now I went to adjust the rod under the dash and tried to follow Jack's video tutorial. However I have run into a problem. When I went under the car to check how the slave was responding to the adjustments, the clutch fork was completely towards the driver's side.

The clutch fork seems to be completely to the driver's side, about half an inch from the bellhousing. I tried pushing the rod on the slave in and it only travels about half an inch. I don't have grinding/engagement issues. Only issue is this slipping clutch.

Does this sound like my slave imploded on itself and can't push the clutch fork over? Is there something wrong internally with the tranny? Thanks for any help and suggestions!

PS: the car is a 2g gst and the clutch is a fidanza 4.3 clutch kit. I have not bled the system after trying to adjust the rod under the dash.

How much did you adjust? Adjust it more so the fork sits flush/ dead center. And if it slips or have engagment issues adjust the fork inward and that should be your sweet spot. If your adjusting to much to get to that point you might want to bleed it to get max pressure.

I don't like to add shims or extended slave rods. Those are only band aids!
By looking at this picture the more the fork is towards the driver side the more the actual fork where the throw out bearing sits should push in the clutch more. (confusing explanation)

I think I have memorized that RRE website after reading it so many times haha. Thanks for the response. As far as adjusting, will adjusting the clutch rod under the dash, also cause the rod on the slave to move? Which way should I move the rod inside the car for the rod on the slave to move outward?

Adjusting the rod under that dash will effect the pedal. It will determine how much the pedal will push fluid TO THE SLAVE! So in a sense yeah. If I remember correctly turning it clock wise will push the pedal up and counter clock wise the pedal will go down, thus PREVENTING you to push LESS fluid causing hard shifts and tranny grinds.

edit:
Make sure the slave or master isn't leakingLOL

Ok thanks for clearing that up. I have a question though. I know I can adjust the rod in the car to make the slave push the clutch fork more towards the passenger side when the clutch is depressed. However, when I am making a WOT pull, will having the clutch fork that far towards the driver's side cause me to slip? (Since the clutch will not be depressed and the fork will sit very far to the right).

I think my wording may be alittle more confusing than it needs to be. Basically the problem I am having is that my clutch fork is way too close to the slave cylinder rod. Is there a way to remedy this without pulling the tranny?

Humm. I'm curious on why you're saying your slipping?
Can you give me your definition of a slipping clutch?
When I adjusted my clutch pedal for maximum travel my slave rod also pushed my fork towards the passenger side so it'll give the throw out bearing more travel. Are you saying that even though you adjusted your master/ clutch pedal your slave rod is still not moving/ sitting towards the passenger side.
It's leading me to suspect you need to bleed more. B. your slave is going bad(check for leaks behind the slave boot) or C. your pressure plate and flywheel is a cause somewhere in this problem.
I'm trying to help but it's hard when I can't see it:ohdamn: I had my fair share of clutch problems alsoLOL

This is common. You have the rod on the master too tight. You need to loosen it up a bit. What is happening is your piston isn't returning as far as it should and it is blocking off the relief hole and it is pulling in extra fluid into the piston and not allowing the slave to disengage. It you are shifting hard and pushing the clutch pedal down fast it will get worse until the clutch is slipping real bad.
