clunking noise, wtf is it?

Ive just got my clutch broke in so ive been driving a little harder than normal just because i miss being able to...anyway...the other day i turned and got on it and i heard a strange ass clunking noise....first thing i did was check my brand new CV's and they are fine...so next i checked my u joints and they are fine as well...it "sounds" like my driveshaft is hitting something but i cant figure it out...any other things i should check?? driveshaft slipping on transfer case sound like that? I hope not

my 90gsx it the same way. i think it is posibly the rear diff. when i was replacing my clutch, i took the rear drive shaft out the the transfer case, and twistied it while the rear part of the drive shaft was still connected...same noise. i know its not the rear cv's, because i looked at them and they are in perfect condion. make shure that you have plenty of gear fluid in your rear diff., and it you do it is posible to be the diff. hoped that helped.

just for future reference when people search, it turned out to be my carrier bearings...my driveshaft is smacking my floor when i romp on it

I think my car does the same crap. In between shifts, usually a downshift, I get a clunk or a ping noise, sounds like the metal on the flag pole rope hitting the flag pole, def metal on metal. It is only when I shift, sounds like it is coming from my driveshaft or my rear, I cant tell.
