For some reason whenever I break a little hard I have my back left wheel area start clunking. At the same time in cold weather and on some turns the car tends to squeak for some reason and it drives me insane. The one thing I can't stand is noise that makes the car sound like its running less than perfect and I have yet to figure out what this clunking might be. Maybe tie rods, or the control arm?

Sway bar links or spindle.

Put up on a jack spin the rear wheel, wiggle it you know the whole routine. If it is the spindle it should show itself. Crawl under the car and look at the sway bar ends, they do wear out. Same thing grab them wiggle around ect.. It could also be the control arms but check the other things first.

Yeah, you're going to have to make a little effort to check it out for yourself.;) Jack it up, do some wiggling, and at least attempt to see what's going on for yourself first. After you do that maybe you'll have a better idea of where your problem might be and then maybe we can help you out a little more.:)

I've been completely thru 3 different 2g DSM's suspension systems and replaced every bushing on all three of them.
I know 2g suspensions...

Jack the rear up and place on jackstands.
Grab tire top and bottom and try to wiggle it off the hub.
Grab tire at 3 and 9 o'clock and try to wiggle it off the hub.
Take the shock completely out so you can freely move the suspension from full droop to full compress.

Make sure and check your calipers mounting hardware while you're in there and the condition of your brake pads.

Make sure and inspect your trailing arm.
Both of mine broke because I beat the bushings out on a vise and cracked the weld when doing so.
I've since replaced them and drilled/cut out the bushings and installed the prothane bushings.

Here are some pics of a 2g GST rear suspension.
All suspect bushings are red.
Notice the torque values for all fasteners, check all of your suspension bolts.

Here are some excellent pictures taken from RRE's site that I watermarked for them and dumped in my photobucket for forum use.

Bushing 64185 is notorious for wearing out.

There is a balljoint on the Toe Control Arm that if the boot is torn it will allow dirt in there and the balljoint will wear out.

Make sure and check the sway bar bushings too.
The sway bar end links can wear out as well and cause clunking noises.

You live in Tracy, I live in Stockton.
If you get stumped, drop on by, I can help you take a look at it.
