I've been battling this ever since I got the car, just wanted some people to help me jog my mind a little bit. I'm getting this inconsistent clunking and drivetrain movement when shifting.

The rear motor mount was completely disconnected when I replaced it with a Torque Solutions unit. The front one had a tear in it when I replaced it with a Torque Solutions unit, and I noticed my trans mount was pretty loose when I did my head rebuild, so that was tightened up at the time. And I made sure that my cam side engine mount was all tight.

This only happens occasionally when I'm full throttle/high load/high boost (stock boost levels for now). I guess the best way to explain it is that it feels like the engine is hitting the firewall or coming very close to hitting it (exaggeration, but that's the only way I can explain it). I can also feel the engine/drivetrain moving excessively while decelerating at a low gear at high rpm (>3500 rpm).

I thought once the motor mounts were replaced that it would fix something, but it still seems to be doing it. Could the subframe bushings be so worn out that the subframe is moving under full torque? They are currently melting off the car, so they do need replacement. Or the trans bell housing bolts?

What do you guys think?

Have you shook the front wheels to make sure there's no worn control arms or anything? It probably wouldn't hurt to check your sway bar links to anything that could cause a clunk to happen. I get a nasty clunk just from putting it in drive, for some reason those aftermarket megan racing upper control arms hit the strut towers. You could have worn subframe bushings but out of the 3 cars I own I haven't seen it yet where you get a clunk from it.

I actually haven't shaken the wheels but that's a good idea, I didn't really think of that because I was so focused on the motor mounts not being attached ROFL. I'll get her up in the air this week and put up another post. I do believe my lower ball joints on the control arms are very worn. Could that be something?

How much play does the rest of your powertrain have?
I'm gonna sound dumb, but how would I figure that out? All I could see was that when I would try to take off in first with the hood open, the engine/trans would visibly move front to back a lot. That should've been fixed by now with the new front and rear mounts. I'll post a video of the movement before the mounts were done. The mounts are good now, but I'm still getting the jerking/violent clunk under high load when I let off.

Will do whenever I can get some free time. Thank you all for the suggestions. The car had a bad misfire the other day, and I could kinda feel the wheels jumping around, so I'm gonna look over the suspension components when I have it up next. Thanks all!
