Hey guys. I have a 94 Eagle Talon. I clocked the turbo meaning the 16g turbo is now a downward facing turbo. I am looking to see if anyone else has done something like this. I am going to make up a custom Jpipe and will probably buy either a TD05 outlet flange and build from there or buy a Jpipe already fabbed up the upright way and hack it up to turn towards the driverside fender.

Has anyone seen this done or have any pics? Just curious to see what other people have done to approach this method.

Just curious as to your reason for doing this when the stock design was already in perfect working order.

The stock design was not in perfect order. Working order, but not perfect. Having the pipe run under the turbo on a 14b/16g is in perfect working order. Besides, having my intercooler piping already setup for a downward facing turbo will make it easier to swap to a bigger turbo down the road. All I would have to do is disconnect the oil feed/return, disconnect clamp, and swap the turbo (assuming I stayed with the current mitsu hotside)

Im not looking to get into a debate about why, how, where, etc. Just looking for pictures to see how other people approached this situation. My turbo is already clocked and installed, ready to go. When I get the radiator/fans in, I will see what room I have to work with but just trying to get an idea of what other people have done.

I thought the compressor cover goes on one way on 14b/16g's...

You remove the snap ring and grind down the dowel pin so you can turn the compressor cover any way you want it to go. Its actually fully adjustable with the turbo never coming off the car now. Snap ring pliers, take a little tension off, and turn the housing any way I want it to go.

Can a mod please move this into the turbo tech thread. This isnt noob material but I only have access to post in this section. I am only looking for pictures. Thanks

Thank you for the link. And BTW: I never said I expected to gain anything from doing this. It just makes it easier to install a downward facing turbo down the road. Also, I dont have the charge pipe sitting over the manifold now and as you know, heat rises. The cooler you can get the air before it hits the intercooler, the cooler its going to come out of the intercooler.

edit: that link really didnt help as he is using a supra sidemount. you know of any that have the piping facing the other way?

I think that you will probaby just have to make the j pipe yourself, but I think that it will work out well the way you are planning on doing it. I think that the way that you are going to be clocking the housing will make for a cleaner install. The major problem that most guys would have clocking the turbo is the placement of the wastegate accuator. If you are running an external wastegate then you wont have any issues.

Yeah I figured I would have to make one myself but it would be cool to see how other people approached the angle. It doesnt hurt to ask.

And yes, I am running an external wastegate. My setup is really simple... everything is really simple! No power steering, manual rack, modified driver motor mount, no AC, no coolant feed/return for turbo, alternator reloacted to the back... makes everything ALOT easier to work on.

I would post some pics but I cant find the wire to my camera. I am doing things a little different this time around. I guess I will make a project thread real quick and introduce myself.
