clipped B16G vs. unclipped 20G

Why? The 16g doesn't really flow enough air to necessitate it, and the 20g is avaliable with the higher flowing TDO6H turbine wheel.

I was speaking in reference to the 20g with the tdo5h hot side that most people run. The pressure ratio of the 20g will get too high as boost climbs. The turbine wheel needs to be larger to addomodate the big compressor. With garrets, you can mix and match to get the perfect combination, with mitsu turbos, you cant. Clipping the turbine wheel will bring the pressure ratio down. The famed "polished turd" theory
If pressure ratio was not a consern, you could run t-25 sizes turbine wheels matet to t-4 cold sides and get 30psi at 2500rpm, but that is going to only create MASSIVE compressor surge (sounds like fun though OMG ). This is why I would clip, and this is a problem with the new SRT-4, especially when they start to raise the boost.

Yes, you are right. If you run a little tiny shitty ass turbine wheel on a big turbo, you need to clip it. I already said that.

Yes clipping was origianlly done for the "polishing the turd" theory. With all 50trim options, thier is no need to do so, but if I were to get a big16, or 20g, I woudl clip.

I don't think that there is any reason to clip a 16G. It would destroy the sweet low end that the turbo has, and give you very little up top.

Not to nitpick this post, just pointing it out ;)

To the original topic, the Clipped B16G woudl porbably infact have the same type of spooling characteristics as an UNclipped td05 20G. The "proper" td06 20G will spool later, but the efficiency levels it reaches are higher than the Big16G--especially when clipped as the 16G would really only shine over the 20G at lower boost levels and clipping it would take away from its "fun range"-- and if properly supported will make more power as well.
