I've had a lifter tick (or so I hope) in my 7 bolt for some time now but with no other means of transportation kept driving it. But now when I start it, I'm no loger driving it, it does the tick and every now and then it bogs down very hard and makes a scraping noise, I thinks it sounds like metal on metal but buddy thinks it sounds like tight rubber scraping metal. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and i'll answere any other questions you have.

How is your oil level? How long since you changed the oil? You could possibly have a cam bearing going out, binding up one(or both) of the cams. Check for lubrication first. Then pull the valve cover and cam caps individually to check for scratches or binding of any kind.
