When I turn at higher speeds or go over certain bumps I hear a low pitched clicking sound coming from my back wheels. Not sure which wheel its coming from, or even if its from the wheels, this is only my assumption. I was thinking it was either my brakes stickiung, and becoming 'unstuck' or it is my wheel bearings. Anyone here might know for sure from experience what the sound is? I have a 98 N/T Thanks for the help.

Well to check it its youe wheel bearings you can jack up the car and sheake the wheel. Not side to side, but up and down. If you get more then a 1/4 inch of play then i would get a new wheel bearing, they are like around 80 bucks, i just did mine.

Oh also check and make sure none of plastics are rubbing up against the tire, could also be a clicking noise. Rule out the easy stuff.

If could also be a CV boot, check both of them in the back and make sure they aren't torn

I have the same problem with my 2gen and i had it with my 1st gen also, i have changed EVERY Piece of suspension there is on my car and it still does it, im starting to think its a drive line or axle problem, you should check that out cause i know it was very expensive changing all my suspension parts.

Bearing tolerences should be checked laterally (moving in and out with respect to the car's center) If you've got 1/4" play, you're lucky to be alive. tolerences are generally less than or around 1mm.

My bearing went the other day and i had about an inch of play and managed to get that wild stallion home. She blew on the highway, it was raddling so hard i thought my timing went.

I forgot to mention that I have the eibach street springs on this car.

I just got done taking a few things apart and the bearings are ok in both sides, there is no play in each rear wheel. I did however notice that the boot for the shock on the passenger side looked to be cut away, about half of the boot missing I estimate. I'm not sure if this could be causing anything to make a noise.

I should point out the fact that at this point the noise is very random. Like I said, it is a low pitched click, almost a klunk noise. Sometimes it happens on turns, sometimes when I am braking coming up to a red light, sometimes going over a bump in the road, but never when I am accelerating or going at a constant higher speed, but sometimes if I am at a constant speed in a parking lot goings slowly.

Sorry for the description, I know its not the best. Anymore information will be appreciated. Thanks
