Hi guys, well yesterday i got from work parked. Then maybe hour latter i try to back up out of my driveway the car started to make like this clicking noise and it dosent want to go when i turned. So i got out of the driveway and drove it around the block and same thing. When i go straight it drives normally, but if i turn it makes this clicking noise, and like if i go from dead stop left or right the tire will start to screech like i'm pelling off and something is holding the car back. I took off the transffer case it's fine. It shifts normaly so i know its not the clutch. Now my question is cold it be viscous coupling or rear end, front diff. I really need help on this, any of you had this problem before? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Enid

I had my cover off on the rear end. So i would have the car in the gear i would hold the brake and I would start to let off the clutch slowlly. My dad was in the back of the car and said the driveshaft would turn and the the differential would make about 1/8 turn. Now the wheels dont turn at all so thats' all free play. Should there be that much freeplay? Also what is it like when the VC goes.

If the VC goes out you have no power to the front wheels. The only way i know to check this is to do a hard launch in dirt or gravel and count the tire marks. If you only have the back two the VC is gone. However, if it is only happening when you turn, it could be the rear end, but you said that was fine. (right?) if the rear diff is broken, only one tire will work and you shouldn't have problems turning. if it is locked (you should be able to see that) then both tires try to turn at the same speed and you should have the squeeling tire noise you said you had. Right now i have no clue what your problem is. You said not the CV's (that was my first guess). You said you pulled the cover off the rear diff and it looked to be okay (my next guess) So i'm open to suggestions too. If the tires are squeeling, it should be the rear diff.

I went and found some gravel road and gues what only rear tires pulling. Oh man i hope it's only VC. The wheels are not peeling off and holding the car anymore when i turn. It's just when i take off it clicks once or twice and that's it and the car goes with no problems. Thanks alot man for your input, I hope i got an easy fix.

Thanks again,
Enid
