Mod list current. Yesterday I changed the oil to Royal Purple 5w-30, and changed the radiator fluid. But I doubt that has anything to do with my problem.

Situation: It's a fairly hot day, hottest I've driven the car in by far. My idle has been a little rough since I've swapped the six bolt in. Not horrible like it's going to die, just a little lumpy. Like a duuuuuuuuuhhhhDUHduhhhhhhhhDUH, haha. I figured that probably had something to do with some boost leaks (I know there's one on the j-pipe). I need to do another test this weekend because I took some of the piping apart because I was going to change my tranny fluid but the drain bolt wouldn't budge so I just put it all back together. Anyway, a little bit ago I was driving and all the sudden I hear a clicking coming from behind the stereo and the car goes crazy and a CEL came on then shut off. This all happened simultaneously but it happened twice. First time I gave it gas and it didn't die, second time I didn't give it gas and it died. I had left my logger on my desk at work so I turned around and went back. At first I was kind of thinking it may be Random Misfire, but there wasn't a misfire. The light turned off by the time I got back to my work. Then I just threw the regular rear o2 sensor CEL. Cleared that and went on my merry little way home, no more problems.

I was thinking maybe a bad ground, or maybe a fuel delivery problem? I've got a fuel pump just waiting to go in, just don't have the time.

Open up your ecu and make sure the board doesnt look damaged, and make sure all the harness plugs are in tightly. One of my plugs wasnt in tight once and the car started acting erractically whenever I hit a bump or try to accelerate hard and I was going crazy trying to figure out the problem and realized one of the harness plugs wasnt plugged in tightly.

I assume you swapped in the six bolt fairly recently? If so, the idle that you're hearing is probably just the ISC and ECU trying to get a handle on the new engine and find the sweet spot. It will get less and less noticeable over time and eventually go away. Unless of course you disconnect the battery. I'm wondering if the clicking you heard was the MAF relay... You might want to test it.

I'll try that, thanks. Come to think of it, it does seem to do it when I accelerate or hit a bump...

Okay good, thanks :thumb:

I'm not too familiar with the relays (where they are or anything) but I'm sure it's nothing a quick search won't solve. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah I saw that thread while searching around, those diagrams always scare me, look complicated. I'll look at it closer tonight.

Well it hasn't happened since I swapped ECU's so if it happens again I'll check everything.
