I have a nice replacment valve cover i want to paint nicely and replace with my cracked current valve cover..So i sand blasted it at my school and realized, oh crap there's probably tons of sand under the baffles!! I was thinking i should just submerge the v/c in a tub with bleach and water and swoosh it around to get all that sand out, if anyone has an easier way or if my idea is bad let me know please! I want to start asap

Short of drilling out the baffles there isn't really a way to be 100% sure you got it all out then then your left trying to figure out a way to reattach them without having something that might come loose and fall into your engine.

In addition you don't want bleach anywhere near aluminum. It will corrode it.

If there was any oil/grease/grime up under the baffles and the sand stuck to it, water won't really help. I agree with steve and would suggest you get another.

This is why those who blast/powdercoat them have rigs to keep media out. The proper way would be to soda blast it as that will dissolve in water.

Ok thanks guys! I'll bring it to the shop and nail it with the air gun, then drench in solvent, then air gun after it's dry. I spent 40 bucks on it so i'm not really trying to toss it
