I cleaned under my hood yesterday and now my car wont run. i didnt clean directly on the engine but I cleaned under the hood and around the engine. I am guessing something still got real wet. The car was running when it was being cleaned and it started to put and shut off. I sat there for about an horu tryin to see what was wet. I found the coil pack was wet inside where the harness goes in. I dried it all out and it didnt work. I checked as many harness as I can find and nothign worked. I let it sit overnite and went back today to start it up and it started right up. I let it run to full operating temp and then I shut it off and went to get a ride to bring my car back. Went to start it again it started right up then after abotu 30 seconds it started to put and miss. After this it wont start for a while. I came back about an hour ago and it started and ran for a bit then did the same thing. Even when I get it started I will hold the rpms up at abotu 3500 and it will start to miss and the rpms will go lower and I will hold them as long as I can then it will miss then I will let it idle. It will idle fine for a short time then miss and shut off. I tryed a new coil pack and that wasnt it? And input would be great. My car is sitting on the side of a busy street with no front bumper and a huge front mount. I dont want any one to steal it. Please help Thanks

youve got several selinoids and fuse boxes under your hood. your ignition is wet is whats happenign form what i can tell by what you described. how far does ti have to go to get home.

check your plug wires, fuse boxes for moisture, and make sure you wrap your electrics in plastic bags next time

I checked everything I can think of for moistue and I couldt find anything. Nothing has worked so far. Any more ideas? Thanks

I got the car started and drove it home. Its at least out of the car wash and at my house. The car ran fine until it got near the full operating temp and then it started sputtering and eventually shut off. I have no more ideas of what it can be. Someone please give me some help. The car has no check engine light either. Thanks!!

From a cold start, the car will start right up and run fine. I can rev the car throughout the rpms. As it warms up I can only rev it up to a certain rpm. For Example: I will rev it to 4500 after warming up for 5 minutes and it will start to sputter and wont let me rev above 4500. But anything under 4500 it will rev smooth. After a few more minutes it will only allow me to rev to 3500 and anything under 3500 is smooth. This will happen over and over until the car gets to where I cant rev it anywhere above idle and then eventually will shut off.

you think maybe an o2 sensor or something screwy might have gotten wet and fried? I dunno dude, i'd get a logger and log what its doing and stuff... maybe that would give you a hint...

Thats not the problem wither I checked into that. I dont have the money to get a logger so I need to do watever I can. Ive tried almost everything. the last thing I can think of would be a Crank sensor. Can anyone tell em exactly where it is? I knwo its down near the oil filter somewhere. Thanks!

It's possible that it's the power transistor. There seems to be a rash of them going out on turbo guys here lately. It's the electrical box next to the coil pack. I would ask around for information on checking it.

IM not a GSX. Im a 95 RS with a turbo Kit. My GSX is fine. I thougth I posted that I was an RS. Any more ideas?

I am not sure about the 420A but on the vfaq they talk about washing a 4g63 and if water gets into the CAM angle sensor it will make the car run horrible or not start. Once again I am not sure if this is a problem for the 420A but I know it is on the 4g63 so I would atleast check it.

I had the same problem with my prelude before i got my eclipse. my power steerng fluid was leaking and leaked into my alternator. your car is sputtering because it is getting no electricity and it runs for a little bit because the battery keeps recharging its self. check the alternator

I had that problem with my 97 nt the body shop washed my motor off to clean it and they fouled out my plugs and wires it would run but very sputtery and rough after I got it back I changed the coil, plugs and wires and I guess I was lucky b/c she ran like a true DSM again ... :dsm:

Get a buddy with an air compressor, or something of the sort and go nuts blowing off all the connections you can find. Don't think you can mess anything up like that but it might help.

I had a similar problem with my car after I accidently drove onto a flooded street after going over a railroad crossing. The car would not rev over 1500.

I eventually tracked the problem down to one of the electrical connectors on the throttle body.

I reccomend that you unplug those connectors and run a hair dryer over them to throughly dry them out and then go from there.
