Circuit breaker size

So I have a 1/0 lead ran from my battery in the trunk up to the starter, where the alternator wire meets up at as well. I was just wondering what size breaker i should put in the trunk? 200A? Basically I just don't want it to pop when I turn the starter. Thanks!

Seeing as in one of your other threads it was said a starter can initially draw upwards of 150A on cold and hard start conditions, a 200 would seem a little overkill to me.

I would personally use an inline fuse holder with a 100-120A fuse and work from there, you dont want an overrated fuse, thats where fires start and wiring gets damaged if it doesn't blow when its supposed to.

1/0 is rated for 150 amps. The awg ratings are very conservative but one should try and comply for the sake of safety.

No one asked what the wiring was rated for, he asked what size circuit breaker/fuse he should put inline.

what he said. and make sure you have a circuit breaker or fuse as close as possible to the battery or alternator on the positive lead.
