I have an IROCK which sends a signal from my ipod to my radio, and is powered from the cigarette lighter. It works fine in my other 2 cars, but in my GS-T, it works fine when I first plug it in, and then about 10 minutes later, it just quits. If I wait a while, and turn the IROCK on again, it will work for about 15 seconds, and then quit.
I just bought a new cig. lighter, and the same problem happened.

Its definitely a short. try tracing it. if not change to one of the wireless ones for your ipod. sound quality is worse but you might have to. I've personally had the best luck with just an AUX cord if you have the jack on your cd player.

My lighter in my 93 GS does not, and never has, worked for crap. It doesn't reliably light cigarettes. It's been my car since 95, and it's always been like that. I can wire brush the coils, and vacuum out all of the ashes, and it still sucks! I think it's just inferior materials and design. I've never been able to use it to power anything either. It just won't hold contact. Plus it's in an absolutly useless location on the 1G cars. You can either plug something into it, or use the shifter. Your choice. IDK where it is on the 2G cars. Try to hard-wire in the adapter to the back-side of the lighter, or maybe the radio harness. It should be easy enough to access some fused +12V circuit.

Like stated before check your wires and if all fails run a wire from your cigarette lighter fuse to your new or old cigarette lighter, ground it and you should be set until you can find your problem.

I jumped the pos. from the fuse box, and it had the same problem. I jumped the ground from the chassis, and it had the same problem.
No idea what to try next.
