My car lately will run fine if im on the gas or completly off. But the problem is when i just lightly push on the gas pedal, say if im crusing down the highway and using just enough gas to keep the same speed. It dosnt matter what gear im in or how fast im going, it will still do it. I know it cant be the clutch and i just replaced the spark plugs. The only thing i can think of is maybe the plug wires. Could there be anything else?

what do i have to do to check that? sorry but im new with DSM's and not the best with cars. Im getting better though haha. I just need plain old engish right now to understand haha

Do you have a Haynes manual for your car? If so, somewhere right in the middle of your book, there is a code chart and directions on how to read your computer's diagnostic codes with an Analog meter. It is cheaper than having to take it to a shop and getting them to read the codes for you. If you do that instead, their computers will more than likely show code numbers. Those can be matched in your manual. The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) can be checked with a meter according to your manual also. Same goes with the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF).

I wish i had one, i plan on getting one soon because im going to turbo my car and it would help me out if i had one. Thanks for the explanation. Thanks for all your help. I will get a book and try it out. :thumb:

You say you're new to DSM's? I would very highly recommend you do some research into putting a turbo in your N/T before planning it.

yeah i am. I have a friend of mine with a gst and hes really good with dsm's and hes gona help me out. thanks for the advice. this website is the best, i can find anything i need on here. Thanks again!

No, the codes will not come up if you use just an analog meter. Most shop computers can bring up history codes. Check all your vaccuum lines including the one to your Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR) for leaks. You may also want to take your Ignition Module to AutoZone or Advanced and see if it is going bad. It can cause your spark plugs to not fire correctly if you accelerating.

Ok, so some time has past and my car is still doing the "chugging" i rulled out a few things. One i know its not a miss and i know its not the plugs or the wires so it has to be either the TPS or idk.. The engine light does not come on. I know it works because as normal, when u turn the key on all the lights including the check engine light comes on, then as soon as u start the car it goes away. I am so frustrated and do not know where to go from here. If it is the TPS how would i know? A friend of mine said he thinks they are adjustable? If anyone has any input on this please let me know. Thanks!

I believe on the VFAQ.com website there is a test to check the TPS, and test your isc.
They are adjustable in so much as there is a little room for you to twist the whole sensor, but that is about it as far as i know.

Doing the test on vfaq.com will tell you if your tps, and isc are functioning correctly.
