It's not the most glamorous area but you not too far from Downtown Chicago or anything else if you have a car. There are a bunch of guy that live in that area, I'll see if they can give you some ideas.

Grand Prix go karts in Melrose Park.

Melrose Park Indoor Grand Prix Just stay out of Stone Park right next door. Nothing but trouble in that town.

If you are into night clubs/dance music/top 40 ghetto thump thump music, Nitro Night Club is a 17+ dance club. Pretty wide variety of patrons, from the High school kids, to the college kids that wanna club but can't get into the real clubs, to the locals that dont wanna travel. Just watch out for the creepers that sit along the walls and watch the young girlies. (Don't ask me how I know about em )

Not so sure on things to do, but like Noslo posted, Grand Prix is there and there's a Chicago area favorite restaurant not too far. Portillos is on North Ave in North Lake, Il. Right before 294 interstate.
Another burger joint is Culvers. It's in Franklin Park, IL on 25th ave/ Rose st.

Is there going to be anything near the Peoria,IL area anytime soon. Last I checked all we had was the DSM/Mitsu meet and greet at the plant in Bloomington once a year.

i just put back my whole front of my car back together, i have a fmic that took all the space from the fog lamps and made custom brakets so i can use them again oh yea i did my oil change and wired 2 new electric fans in my radiator
