my car threw the P0170 code, searched on here found out it was the fuel trim and what it could possibly be, but i have a RFL venting so i figured that could be what was throwing the code. i put back the stock BOV and disconnected the battery and let it sit for about twenty minutes, then i hooked everything back up and drove around for about thirty minutes and the check engine light has not come back on. my question is how long does it normally take for the light to come back on if the problem is not fixed. im hopeful this fixed the problem.

well good i was worried because i blew the engine in this car five months ago and i finally had everything rebuilt and i was worried but it still has not come on so i guess that was it

When you vent the BOV without a blow-thru MAFT setup, you'll run rich in between shifts. The ECU is expecting the air that the BOV vents to be routed to the intake and adds fuel accordingly.

So that could be why you threw the code. If it doesn't show up again...problem solved.

yea its not the BOV the code came back up....it seems to come up after i have been driving for a good thirty to fourty five minutes, but the car runs great. the only thing i dont like is its idle'n around 600...but even then it sounds smooth im not sure what this is. im going to try to get my o2 sensors checked soon not too sure how to do it though, but i will try to figure it out. As to the BOV venting, i never had a problem with my eclipses With the RFL without the MAFT because i am running an automatic and it doesnt loose boost when shifting gears like a manual does...i've drivin both and its ridiculous how different it is. but im thinking of getting and ssqv just to be on the safe side. i like the attention but like my cars health better!

You Described my car too a tea, I have the exact same symptoms, reappearing engine light code and low idle but car feels fine.
I changed my o2 sensor but code keeps coming back.
Having said that I had a few boost leaks which are all but done with I’m now down to a small boost leak on my idle air controller due to I think a bad o ring so im going to see if fixing that helps.

if i had boost leaks wouldnt the card be studder when in boost?

how would i go about making the boost leak test, ive been fortunate enough not to have any boost leaks before this being my second GST although i did just have this engine completely rebuilt:ohdamn:

My boost leaks were so bad that I could not hold any pressure at all yet the car drove pretty well, except for the idle and check light that is, so unless you do a boost leak test you’ll never know
Also I don’t think an engine rebuild would prevent a boost leak unless you had other stuff rebuilt as well like the throttle body and such.
I’m hopping after tomorrow when I fix the last leak that my light stays off.
Oh buy the way when I fixed the majority of the leaks my check light stayed off for quite a while, in fact probably the longest since it first came on, so hears hoping.
