Cheapest place to buy racing fuel cells for gas tank replacement?

Anyone know of a place, the only prices i can find are on jegs, and the want 150 for a 10 gallon one and 230 for a 16 gallon one and that is just for the tank.

I plan on getting a a circle track/drag one cause thats what i plan on doing with the car.

Anyone know anywhere that is cheaper.

Also what is the difference in foam filled, metal plastic and all the different types of cells?

Everything depends on how much your safety is worth and how good your health insurance is. Crashes are very possible and in circle track may involve a wall.

Cheap plastic containers are inexpensive , but will burst if hit. Metal ones a little safer but still dangerous. Foam filled cells are a little bit safer as the foam cuts down on the amount of fuel vapor in the fuel cell, and also has some effect on fuel sloshing in the tank. Metal enclosed bladder cells such as the ones made by ATL and Fuel Safe companies are safest. In case of impact on the fuel cell the metal will absorb the impact and the bladder will contain the fuel in the cell. Fire is still possible through ripped hoses and such but at least there won't be 10 to 16 gallons of fuel spilled all over the driver and hot vehicle parts.

Used fuel cells can be found on ebay and other racing "for sale" sites. One can even get "dent and scratch" cells from manufacturers - paint smudges, scratched or similar. I have seen new cells go for as little as $450.

My opinion is that one shouldn't compromise on safety equipment. Yes, one may save a couple of C notes but think about a worst case scenario - the car hits a wall, fuel cell bursts and covers everything with fuel. A couple of hundred dollars isn't worth moths in a burn unit, skin grafts and loss of work.

Good luck
