Changing Wheel Studs

I've looked for how to change the wheel studs on a 1G but none of what anyone else has posted helps. I'm trying to change the studs on a 90 Eclipse GS-T. On the front driver's side. People say just hammer them out and put the new ones in but it isnt that simple. Theres a spindle behind the studs that keeps you from just hammering them through. So, how do I change the studs?

Sounds like your running into the abs trigger wheel. There are two bolts holding that on that will allow you to move this around the hub. You can then have access to pound out the old and replace with new studs. IMO I would just cut these off as the 1g abs is garbage anyways.

No problem I ended up first notching it with the angle grinder then finishing it off with the dremel. There's no way Ludachris done this with just a dremel...that'd take weeks to do. Took me roughly an hour per side

damn im glad i have a 2g witch i just have to hammer them out and put the new ones from behind... but the thing is that once i did that i tighten the lug nuts tight and drove it for a couple of miles on the freeway when all of a sudden i hear a rattle and then out of nowhere my wheel fell off and i just skidded to a stop...! the wheel just bounced away... trust me it was a scary moment... i realized that they don't automatically go all the way in.. so i ended up messing up all the studs from the driver side and luckily i just scraped a little bit of the lower suspension... so i put new ones back in and drove it around the block and noticed that the had gotten loose so i tighten them up more and took it for another spin and sure enough loose again.. i tighten them one more time and took it around the block again and ever since they've been tight... IM JUST TRYING TO HELP OUT AND MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE ... good luck...!

This is what i do at the nissan dealership i work at. Put the new stud in, put a spacer of some sort through the stud and then thread a lug nut onto the stud. Hit it with an impact gun and it will pull the stud into the hub and then you are good to go!

Easy way to replace wheel studs:
1. Hammer out old.
2. Buy a good amount of thick washers, 5-8 should do the trick.
3. Put new stud through, stack washers on threaded end.
4. Grab an air hammer and with your new lug nut (should be open ended) tighten it down as much as you can with air hammer to pull the stud through.

Do this and you wont end up like the guy 2 posts above.

i had to use a torch to heat the hub a little before i could get the new studs to fully seat using an impact gun, PITA but it worked

how long are these studs? really curious as I had one break on me a week ago and cant/dont want to drive around dangerously,

I am having the same problem with my 1g, are these the two bolt that are on the face of the hub?

if you raise the front 2 wheels you can rotate them enough for the flat side of the back plate to let the old studs out/new studs in, seems easier than cutting things apart
