I've done a lot of searching but I'm not really understanding whats actually needed to run dsmlink. Help me out to make sure I'm understanding it the right way. To run only the maf/t you have to remove the 2gmas and install a gm maf with a maf/t but an eprom ecu is not needed. However, for the dsmlink you need to either install the gm maf with translator or stick with stock, but you need an eprom that's socketed. Or a different choice is to use a map sensor without the gm maf/t?
Can someone please clarify what is needed for which setup?

I was about to post something like that. I'd also like to know what's needed for SAFC.

Sorry for not helping.

Yes to run a GM MAF you would remove the stock 2G MAF and install a MAF/translator piggy-backed onto your ECU. You can also run a S-AFC along with a GM maf translator set-up for even finner tuning of the fuel system then the MAF /T can do buy itself.

To run LINK you would need an Eprom ECU and have it socketed for the Link chip
to run a GM maf with link V2 (version 2 ) you would also need a MAF translator
On the newest version of link V3 it suports a GM MAF if you get their cable and the full version of link V3
V3 Lite dose not support a GM Maf so you would need to use a translator with that version as well if you wanted to run the GM MAF

To run a map sensor with no MAF is speed dencity (sorry for the poor spelling)this is one of the options avalible in link V3 Full or Lite

+1 I agree completely. I was actually unaware of the newest V3's ability to support for a GM MAF directly. Good to know!

Thank you a lot. I understand it now. But just to clarify for v3 link you need gm maf with or without translator if you get the full version but you can also just run speed density without maf/t. Does it need a special map sensor or would one from an aem system with 3bar work?

Panzero, for the s/afc you just tap it into your ecu and leave your mas in. However in excess of 650 injectors the s/afc gets hard to tune because it tricks the ecu in idc and also idle isnt too well thats why when or if you go bigger you need a better management system. I will have an afc for sale soon after I install dsmlink if you want to try it out.

The S-AFC connects up to your ECU wiring harness so it come's with everythig you need to make it work .

BUT you will need some type of Data logger or at least a widwband O2 so you can see what effect the changes you are making have on your air/fuel ratio

If your on a budjet you can pick up a decent OBD scan tool that will show Data at almost any autoparts store for less then the cost of a wide/band O2 and it will show you short term and long term fuel trims O2 sensor voltage (narrow Band)

For Link V3 you DON"t need the translator as long as you get their FULL version and their GM MAF cable
Link V3 Lite (less expensive version )won't do as much as the full version
Lite dosn't support the use of a GM MAF
Both versions of link V3 lite and full can be run on speed density
