Hey,
I plan on replacing all of my ball joints pretty soon. The upper control arm joint or the lower compression joint seems to be making a real straining noise.Meineke said it was the upper joint, but the noise comes from lower when I was feeling around. I know that there are four different ball joints in each wheel well:

Upper Control Arm Ball Joint
Tire Rod End Ball Joint
Lateral Lower Arm Ball Joint
Compression Lower Arm Ball Joint

Does anybody have the part numbers to these ball joints. Also I would really enjoy any tips you could give me.

Thanks A Lot!!!!

None of those ball joints can be bought from Mitsubishi for 2g's.

That being said, Napa carries the upper control arm ball joint. Other stores may also carry it.

I've never seen either of the lower control arm or tie rod ball joints for sale, nor have I ever heard of somebody replacing them. It may be possible, but from what I know those ball joints are non-serviceable. If you are prepared to spend the money to buy new components then I can help you review all your options (there are many) as I have recently gone through the research while replacing my own parts.

Damn. Well since it seems like the only real replaceable ball joint is the upper control arm ball joint(which was originally diagnosed as the problem). I may just end up buying a whole new upper curved control arm from rockautos.com. $85 bucks.

But the thing is, the vibrations and noise seems to be coming from the lower part of the wheel well. So I took off the wheel just to double check the noise, and it went away. I'm guessing cause there was no pressure from the car and wheel to create the original sound.

What do you think?
