92 laser rs awd, going through the front suspension and ordered the moog ball joints from jnz which is the same part number everyone else uses but they dont fit. The ones I had in have a ring thats slotted at the base so it grips when you press them in but the moog ones dont have this ring and so they dont fit. Anyone have a fix for this? Have the car tore apart kind of sucks.

Even looking at control arms seen other chats on here saying dorman were havibg issues with the welds I see rock auto has mevotech?

Mevotech MK9617 (K9617 MB241883) worked for me. It has the snap ring and zerk fitting.
Huh this is showing different part numbers.

The K9617 was the moog ball joint I got to replace mine and it had lots of play but my old ones had to be pressed out so I figured id just go with a full ca.

Im not 100% sure if they may be worn out, we took out the old ball joints which we had to press them out and when we went to put the new moog one in theres a ton of slop like it doesnt even need to be pressed in or any force just slides right in. Even with the snap ring that doesnt seem right to me. Also my old one had like an extra ring at the base of the ball joint thats grooved.

Sorry the pictures didnt load the first time apparently

It’s possible you already had a low quality control arm installed. I tried searching around for the raybestos brand mentioned in this article with no luck. Unfortunately, all the listings use the same stock photo so it seems like it might be a gamble trying to get the right kind.

Yea thats what I was looking for was the raybestos ones I thought someone had said dorman had done better with their welds but rock auto doesnt have both sides. Figured id get these mevotech ones and see how they look.

I once tried to use some MOOG ball joints on my 1g and they were too small and would not press-fit. They just wobbled around in the control arm. I ended up going to my local Napa and they had some that fit. More recently I replaced the lower control arms with a set from 1A Auto due to rusted rear mounts. Definitely budget friendly ($125/pair) and appear to be close to OEM with ball joints and bushings pre-installed. Welds looked good. There's a thread around here that talks about them but I'm having a hard time finding it. Here's some comparison pics, my originals vs the 1A Auto. I have more pics if interested.
