the guy i bought the car from changed the timing belt at 60,000 and i just bought it and it has 86,000. do i need to change it agian? its a 90 gsx 5spd

You can look at the timing belt and see if it's actually been changed or not. If it doesn't need it then save up a couple bucks and buy the kevlar timing belt/acc belts. Stronger the belts the better.

Definatly a good idea to check. I was told mine was changed but it wasn't once I got it off. Just bought mine through here at NAPA. I like mine. It's a Kevlar Gates belt that's 3x stronger than stock. Plus it's Blue :thumb: Guess that doesn't matter since I always keep my timing cover on anyways.

Unless he gave you papers that showed the change was done then do it now. You can never fully trust someone selling a car I mean they are just trying to get rid of it.

Were any other parts replaced besides the timing belt? The timing belt tensioner should also have been changed, along with the balancer belt and its tensioner. If you're not sure, it's best to have it all done again, this time along with a new water pump and crank pulley, since the mileage is getting up there.

4 years or 40.000 miles you should change your belt unless you have a thick wallet(when you blow it up)I'll let you be the judge.
