Hey everyone, earlier when light was still out I was taking out the interior of my hatch area. I just wanted a few tips for installing my new hatch. I got a ViS carbon fiber hatch and it comes with everything I need to install. Tomorrow I will be cutting the inside of the ViS hatch so I can press in my interior panels.

Question 1) What can I use to cut the little rectangular shapes? I was thinking of rounding it out a little with a drill and bit, then using a sharp edge to get the corners. Any better suggestions?

Question 2) How do I get out my rear window washer squirter off? I just took out my rear wiper and thought I was gonna have to BREAK it off. I think the wiper motor is meant to bite into the wiper arm.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Are you puting the wiper on the carbon hatch? I would just leave the washer squirter and wiper off; it will look cleaner and how often do you really use it?

I have there hood and have been thinking about getting a hatch, it was listed on there site for a 1G also. Im going to call them how is the fitment? can you post some pics ive seen other pics on 2Gs.

Let us know how it is etc and the weight......

Well, I'd actually want to keep my rear wipers for the OEM look. Kinda like it, ya know? Plus, it's already pre dimpled on the top side to be drilled, when EVERYTHING else is dimpled on the underside. What were they thinking???

Anyway, I'm not sure how heavy or light the OEM hatch is because I haven't removed it, but I'm assuming it's not the lightest. And the 2g turbo spoiler adds quite a bit of weight to that also. The ViS hatch was actually SUPRISINGLY light!! When I first got it I was like... DAMN!! That's awesome! :thumb: I'll be using my stock spoiler ofcourse!

Hopefully I can get some pics up soon when I get it installed. It'll be on within this coming week. BTW, know any precision cutting tools? Preferably smalls ones at that. I'll be cutting a lot of little rectangular shapes into the underside of the ViS hatch. Just want to do it right, thats all. Thanks all!

Where did can you find a CF hatch? Im interested.

It's a ViS carbon fiber hatch and it's DAMN NICE!! You won't be dissappointed if you like the carbon fiber look. I got it off a vendor from Ebay who said a month ago that... THESE ARE OUR LAST 2 CF HATCHES. WE'LL BE ON BACK ORDER FOR THE NEXT 4 MONTHS. Something of that sort, so I got one! ROFL Their second one? Gone when I checked. Both were bought out pretty quick.

I actually seen someone selling one in the Classifieds, but wants local pickup only. Sucks because he's in Florida.

Oooh Cool sounds nice... Looks like a new toy for me... in 4 months hehe.

Do they sell one for the 1g Laser? I would like to get one. Anyone know where I can find one. A website would be great. I checked http://www.streetconcept.com/3997.html and they show one under the Eclipse. However it doesn't show an actual picture. Looks like a regular trunk. Thanks for the help.

You need to call up VIS and talk to them about 1G stuff, its not listed on there site they have alot of things.

I had to call them to find out if they had hoods, this was a bit ago when there wasnt alot of things out for 1Gs at all.

for cutting i'd use a drimmel.

For my cf hatch I didn't bother putting in the squirter/wiper. Didn't want to take the chance of messing up and i rerouted my squirter to use as a ghetto i/c sprayer. Haven't put in the panels either because I'm waiting to see what to do with the trunk system wise.

As for the wing, I agree, why put on the stock when you can go with a cf and match

why use the stocker when you can get one made of CF... i mean, a cf hatch then a stock wing... http://www.streetconcept.com/3997.html there is the turbo wing of cf... and i think that on that site they have the hatches and other stuff..

Well, it crossed my mind to use a CF spoiler with the new hatch too, but, it's just the look I'm going for. I got a CF hood, I got OEM 17" wheels painted black and this CF hatch I'm putting in. My car is red so I'm going for the black on red look. Ya know? Just with the cf hood and wheels the car looks means AS HELL! Keeping the stock colored wing just gives it that little extra accent or whatever. :rocks:

Thanks Jeff, your one of the few who actually helped me answer my question. Off the the parts store for a dremmel. I did a little research just now on the dremmel and it looks perfect for the job! :thumb: to you!
