I am not sure where they got one, but WalMart tire center totally screwed up one of my 2g center caps and they came up with a brand new one in the package with the clip to hold it in last year when I had a tire fixed.

There’s only (3) center cap part numbers used on the 2G N/T Spyder:

Based on the pictures I can find for each of these, I’m guessing it’s MB816391.

I was going to add, those wheels, nothing about them specifically designated them to the 99 Spyder. They were used on many of the 2G models. So for those following along, the part number that looks correct is not listed for a 99 Spyder, that would likely be why - the wheels are not necessarily for the 99 Spyder.

Good luck on sourcing them for lower cost. This is one of those items that infuriated me a while ago and I gave up on due to the (what I consider) ridiculous cost. Do report back if you find them somewhere!

I wonder if the 3g Eclipse wheels have the same diameter center caps, because I have tons of those laying around. I also have some from Monteros and Mirages. It's something I'll have to look into. The color and shape appears the same, so if any of the diameters matche, we may have a score. Now, just to remember which ones came from which vehicle...

Well, I have two potential candidates. Early Mirage and 3g Eclipse caps measure the same, at face value at least. Montero is 3 inches so that's a bust. What really matters though is the bore diameter of that wheel, since the tabs on the backside of the cap aren't the diameter as the face of the cap. If you could measure that with a micrometer, or even the diameter of the tabs on the cap, then I could do the same as soon as I find a new watch battery for my digital micrometer.

It'll be nice if I have discovered more options for these. They're all brittle now. I wonder if I can even remove the ones from any of these 3g wheels without breaking the tabs off, it's been 6 years since any of them were removed.

(The metal clip on my tape is loose due to heavy use, that's why it appears 2 1/4 on Mirage caps, but they're actually 2 1/8 if the clip is not extended, which is same as 3g caps.)

That's great, but I would assume OP wants to replace them due to peeling coating, since he wanted to Plastidip them (bad idea BTW).
