ok guys i posted a thread a while back because i was having problems with my coolant temp sensor, i thought i got it fixed because it didnt happen for a couple days. then a few weeks ago i got the same cel again for the temp sensor. i figured that since i got the sensor from a junkyard it might be bad. so i go purchase a brand new sensor, installed it, car ran for a few min then the cel came on again. same code. so im looking around and check the plug that goes on the sensor and i see that one of the wires are frayed real bad. so i get some wire and reqire the damn thing. car starts. drive it around for a few min. same cel kicks on. and u know when this happens the car completely stalls out. i get out and screw with the plug. get the car to start again. drive back home and then i get teh cel again. so now im thinking it might be the actual plug. get a new plug and reqire it. start car and just let it idle for a minute. cel kicks on, same code. so now im real pissed. i have no idea whats going on with it. im thinking it may be the ecu because when the cel kicks on my ecu clicks like a million times then the car dies. any suggestions? thanks

Ganja man,
did you ever have the caps in your ECU replaced?
Sounds like an ECU issue such as leaking caps, better get it done asap.

Thanks

i thought that it might be the caps so i pulled the ecu and they look fine but i guess that doesnt mean they arent screwed up. ill replace them and see what happens, thanks.

What the ECU does is sends 5 volts to a sensor and it gets it back. If it doesn't get the 5 volts back it throws a code. What you can do is take a volt meter and follow the voltage through the wire through the sensor and back through the wire. Where ever you stop seeing the voltage is where you have the problem so check it out.

ok thanks ill do that. will my friends ecu work in my car? he has a 1994 laser twubo awd, mines a 1991 laser turbo fwd

ok well i tried my friends ecu and the car wouldnt even start with it in there even though he has a 92 turbo awd. but anyways i put mine back in and started it up, actually ran for about 10 min and while i was looking around under the car i saw a little bit of coolant dripping kinda by where the water pump is, there not a lot its a very slow drip. i couldnt see exactly where the leak was coming from though. now what im wondering is could a bad water pump throw a CEL for the coolant sensor? thanks

hmm.. i wonder why i havent' thrown a cel for the coolant sensor. my plug broke and it's been unpluged for a while now... oh well OMG

by the way, if anyone has that plug, let me know. i went to the junkyard by all the had were NT's and they are different.
