Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my 96 tsi. It ran fine this morning and when I got out of school, CEL is on. Great. I get going and everything seems normal so i step on it. Once the car hits about 4k rpm, It starts to sputter and won't build any boost. I go home check the codes. There is 02 sensor circuit malfunction, 02 sensor heater circuit malfunction and an evap code that I can't remember..I didn't save the log. I drive the car to work with it plugged into the lap top and I get there and check the codes and Now have a Manifold differental pressure sensor circuit code. I also noticed that if i get into boost in 5th, It will lean out..I dont know what happened, but it was just running fine :banghead: Thanks for any help..

PS I have heard of replacing the plugs and wires, but what about all the random CEL that appeared? I am going to check the plugs and wires tomorrow.

RESOLVED---------------Global fuel and deadtime got reset in the tune. Changed it back and fixed the problem.

yeah i would check the plugs and wires and also the coilpack to but you might need to do a o2 sensor test bye taking it out and pooring gas onto a rag and holding it around the o2 sensor and see if it runs rich on the gauge this will limit that o2 sensor being bad also check your bolts on the manifold make sure there tight and check your wiring to the o2 sensor
 
Thanks, pulled the plugs and they are white tipped. too hot. Im almost positive that I found the problem. The 02 sensor is bad. I checked the log in link and saw that the voltage was fluctuating like it should. If the circuit was bad, the o2 would be stuck at 90 mV. So the circuit is good which rules the o2 as being bad causing a lean and sputter. I will mark resolved once i get a new o2 in the next couple days.
 
There aren't any leaks, checked earlier. No corroded lines either. I can almost guarantee a fix when I get a new 02..ordered a 96 when my motors a 97:ohdamn:
 
What evap code? There could be a problem there. What was the code? Is it coming back on? Is this a consistent issue? Evap and map sensor code could be related. Your egr valve could be leaking causing your sputter and lean condition.

Check your plug gaps. Got an afpr? Check your base pressure.

I'm not quite sure if you're talking about the o2 sensor or not. If you are, they aren't the same thing. On the 96 sensor, there are 4 pins in a rounded square connector, the wire between 1 and 2 feet long. The plug didn't fit in let alone reach. Called the store and had him check the 97 o2 sensor. He described it exactly how the one in the car already looked with a 4 pin plug with a divider in the middle and around 3 foot wire.

What evap code? There could be a problem there. What was the code? Is it coming back on? Is this a consistent issue? Evap and map sensor code could be related. Your egr valve could be leaking causing your sputter and lean condition.

I messed with some wiring, wiggled some and checked them and the code isn't there anymore. The only ones are the 02 sensor codes now.
 
So a new o2 didn't fix it. I cleared the codes and they haven't come back. The car stutters when it gets into boost and the AFR goes to like between 10 and 12. I need some major help with this. I attatched a log file.

Resolved issue-------Global fuel and deadtime got reset in the tune somehow, changed it back and is fixed now
