causes of richness with stock fuel system

im trying to put together a list of stuff that will cause a very rich condition with the stock fuel system. the reason for the list is because im running extremely rich on the stock ecu and i havent done any fuel mods whatsoever to really have to tune. im just trying to figure this out...

so with that said... what are things that will cause a very rich condition with the stock fuel system?

Theres a laudry list of reason why a car would run rich.

-Boostleak
-Non-recirculated BOV
-O2 sensor failure
-Coolant temp sensor
-Spark plug
-Spark plug wires
-thermostat stuck open
-Spark plug wires
-Faulty/Dirty MAS
-Injector stuck open

This would lead to your car not entering closed loop mode and staying in open loop.

1gs naturally run rich from the factory, do you have a wideband to see what your A/F ratio is? Do you have any logging software so we can see engine temps etc.? Do you see black smoke come out of your exhaust?

this is just what i needed thanks! i dont got a wideband but its in my list of stuff to get along with dsmlink.

i got my bov recirculated and a new thermostat. my car does have a super duper rough cold start though.

would a colder thermostat cause richness? if so, how?

i do remember putting in a colder one. i dont remember exactly what temp but i know it was the next cooler one down from stock at advance auto parts.

and now that i think of it... would a colder thermostat also make my radiator fan not turn on?? it used to work before now it randomly doesnt

Maybe the thermostat is stuck open allowing it to not reach Operating temp?

now that i think of it, i may have bought a 170 thermostat for a 2g

i think my car stays in warm up mode forever causing it to richen out... ill replace to a 180 or stock 195 and see what happens.
