carrier bearing bolts wont align HELP!

alright guys i'm basically trying to put this back together

it's in the bottem picture but i can't get the bracket to align back with the bolt holes.

When the axle and everything is hanging loose you can slide it all from side to side. I called a friend and he said maybe it's not pushed into the tranny? i haven't a clue what to do i'm about ready to leave it alone and drop it off at a shop monday morning.

i was driving the car easy and i heard jus clanging drove the car back about 8 miles and found the carrier bearing braket just hanging loose. when i drove the car home it was like i had a slipping clutch, it still made power just wouldn't handle it...no kidden right.

Anyways after buying the bolts to put back into it i goto put them back in and it won't line up.

the bearing needs to come like a half inch towards the tranny. Please help i really don't know what to do! if you need pics or video i can get the asap.

Take a good picture of the splines on the end of your intermediate shaft, I'm guessing they're twisted.

i'm guessing that these splines would be inside the rubber boot correct?

the boot its self is ripped. i can get my finger in it and when i left everything back up it seems like it all comes back together. i can take pictures. just don't know what of. maybe i should jus go click away in a min to give yall an idea.

the 2nd pic down is as close to the bolt hole as i can get...:-(
Like i said u can shake the whole shaft back and forward up an down etc. alot of slack, i can get a video no prob

The bearing itself will sometimes move. Get a hammer and tap it slightly and it should move down the intermediate shaft.

Before bolting that back up you need to replace that boot or complete axle assembly. Your going to cause a headache down the road. Don't ignore it. And you probably don't have it pushed all the way in the transmission. If you can freely move it in and out then the axle isn't fully in. The clip on the end is hard to push in and will basically lock the axle in but it takes a couple good hard shoves. Do it right.

yea i hear ya on the boot its the weekend just looking to get it fixed ya kno. I will definite do it right i just don't know how to go at things. Thanks for the info i'mma try it with a hammer and see if i can get it back in. hopefully everything goes back together.

yea, just got back from being outside with the car. when i pulled it back i could feel the spline going inside of the tranny push it back in so i think it's taking all the slack back out of it. The only thing was i dunno how to go at nailing it back in. so just a real quick question.

the car is up on front wheel ramps atm. could i jack it up, remove the wheel and knock the axle back into the tranny? I would assume everything is lined up because u can't spin it. like i said i don't know the best way to go at this just looking for all the help i could get. Thanks everyone for lookings!

Yea I would take the wheel off, then the axle/axle nut is exposed right in the center of the rotor/wheel bearing. Take a hammer and a block of wood and give it some whacks .

Just grab the intermediate shaft and give it a good push into the transmission. You should defiantly look into replacing that axle.

after taking the wheel off with a block i wood i hammered the end peice...got back under it. NOTHING!!!

man i was mad i was like...how come this isn't doing anything? well i grabbed the axel brought it all the way to the top as it would reach and grabbed the bracket and i swear...

it slide like friggen butter right over the hole. i was like WTF?? i have been workin on this thing since 10 am and it decides to just slide over in place. Well whatever i'll take the luck i get haha.

So i have a bolt to long but i decided to take for a trip around the block and problem fixed*** so happy.

now i've got the fans spinnin to cool everything down and gonna take the bolt back out and then hack a lil bit off the end and then put in some washers. this makes for a decent day but i wish it coulda been a lil easier.
