I like the idea, smooth it out a bit, it looks kind of wavy..what radiator are you using? I cant tell but from the pics it looks like it curls over the radiator a bit or does it sit flush with the edge? Either way awesome start and i'll be waiting on the finished product!:thumb:

Is this going to be something just for you or would you be selling to the dsm family....?:sneaky:

it is wavy over the radiator i couldn't get it to stay flush.
this is just something i thought about doing, if it comes out worth it, i was thinking about making a mold out of fiber glass then see if some one would want to mass produce this.

the radiator is a fluidyne.

im not looking for perfection as this is my first time ever working with carbon fiber, and i didnt let the first layer off apoxy with the black pigment dry to a tack so when i layd the carbon it didnt stick and lifted.

I like the Idea but I think you should have used fiberglass to make a negative mold. If you lay fiber glass first. Let it harden pull it off then smooth it out with bondo. Then lay you carbon fiber over your fiberglass mould. You have two options with this 1 leave the glass under neath for more strength but add extra weight. Or use a release agent on the mould and the carbon fiber should come right off leaving you will a thin light weight piece that fits right and looks good. Of course there is always some cleaning up of the edges but thats pretty normal.

well this carbon fiber like i said it was left over from doing some other things,

the kit i got came with a wax that you put down befor laying carbon or fiber glass.

after this is done, my project will be to tape everything and and wax it, lay the fiber glass and the apoxy and after hardens it just comes off as the wax wont let it stick to what ever as the wax.
after the mold is done i will do it in carbon fiber.

i got my kit from here

hey guys a a little update, i have cut it to some what a size and i have laid another epoxy coat, for some reason after 3 days of sitting in my room and 2 more days out side it as not dried/ harden the last epoxy coat and i don't know why.

what i might do if this doesn't come out good, is tape everything again lay some wax on the tape then do it with fiber glass as i found fiber glass allot easier to work with.

Looks pretty decent. Once you work out the kinks i'm sure it would look really sick.

thanks guys.

my problem with not being straight and all wavy was because, when i lay the carbon fiber clothe over the first epoxy coat with the black pigment it wasn't dry to a tack it was still wet so it didn't stick well and it lifted, as it dried lifted staid wavy.

im hoping on starting on a mold in fiber glass very soon.

When you wrap everything up with this and post pics, would you mind making them for people :)

I seriously asked about getting this a long time ago in the "what parts would you like to see made" thread.

i dont know if that is on my list unless i get time, carbon fiber was kinda hard to work with, at least for me, my next one will be in fiber glass, and i will let a company of choice use it as a mold :sneaky:

or mmaybe when i do it fiber glass all just do 20. :sneaky:

hey guys so sens last post this carbon fiber shroud as been in my room, and it as not dried, its still tacky to the touch so i had it out side for the past 2 days and still the same.

i think the last epoxy coat i did wasn't the right amount, tomorrow i will be getting some fiber glass and i will get started on a fiber glass mold.
